- +

Presented by Mr. Gaurav Chitnis, Tax Principal and Mr. Peter Hong, Senior Tax Consultant ,this 90 minute tax training session took place in June 2020.

The taxation of testamentary trusts and deceased estates is a complex and specialised area. A lack of understanding of the taxation issues in this area can result in inaccurate tax assessments, depletion of estate assets and the potential for executors becoming personally liable for taxation. The webinar session will assist you in gaining clarity on the most important taxation issues in this area, including:

  • Determination of assessable income and deductible expenses of a deceased estate;
  • “3 year rule” and who gets taxed on the estate income;
  • Various CGT reliefs available to deceased estates (including the main residence exemption and the Small Business CGT concessions);
  • International tax issues with respect to deceased estates; and
  • Taxation of testamentary trusts, including a major change recently proposed by the Government

**This session will qualify for 1.5 hours Structured CPD/CPE for CPA, CAANZ, IPA and Tax Institute members**
